NON will narrate the NHK BS Special “The Great Hanshin-Awaji Earthquake: 30 Years of One Family's Life Now.
The program will be broadcast on Thursday, January 16, from 10:45 p.m. to 11:45 p.m.
■Program Outline
On January 17, 1995, 30 years have passed since the Great Hanshin-Awaji Earthquake. For the first time since the end of World War II, the Great Hanshin-Awaji Earthquake made the horror of a major disaster known.
On the other hand, it was also the same earthquake that taught the importance of bonds. The film depicts 30 years of one family's life.
At 5:46 a.m. on January 17, 1995, 30 years have passed since the Great Hanshin-Awaji Earthquake.
The program tells the story of a family that lost two children and later had two more children.
A father is still actively involved in activities to pass on the story to the next generation. The son, who carried his late brother's school bag to school, wondered if he too should be involved in activities like his father. However, he answered, “I will cherish the life I have now and live it to the fullest,” and started his career as a teacher at a special-needs school. The film depicts 30 years of a family dealing with the memories of the disaster and what they have lost.
