Shuntaro Tanikawa, one of the leading poets of our time, passed away on November 13, 2024, at the age of 92.
Born in Tokyo in 1931, Tanikawa made his debut in 1952 with his poetry collection “Two Billion Light Years of Solitude” and published his works for half a century.
His works, which depict a wide, deep, and rich world without using difficult words, have expanded the possibilities of the Japanese language and continue to fascinate many people today.

What is a human being? What is life and death?
In this program, J-WAVE navigators will read from Tanigawa's works, which capture the world on a large scale, sometimes sharply, sometimes humorously. The program will also include music that accompanies the world of Tanigawa's poetry.
