This human drama follows protagonist Kunimi Asuka, whose life was stolen by her genius shogi player father. Fueled by deep hatred, she blossoms with newfound talent and unwavering determination to reclaim her life.
It carefully portrays a strong woman confronting her painful past while striving to move forward. Non stars as protagonist Kunimi Asuka, completely transforming her image to take on an unprecedented, deeply shadowed role.
Bearing uncontrollable rage within her, she plays the role of a “dark hero battling on the board,” breaking new ground.
Fujiki plays Todo, a former shogi player with a history of enmity toward Asuka's father. He proposes to Asuka, “Let's take revenge through shogi,” and the two become “accomplices.”
NON commented on Fujiki, with whom she shares her first on-screen collaboration: “When I first met Mr. Fujiki, I got so excited thinking ‘He's super cool!’ His presence, expressions, and gestures radiate charisma—it was electrifying. ■"MISS KING" Story
Born to a genius shogi player father, Asuka (NON).
She spent a happy childhood with her mother and father,
but one day, her father abandoned them both and left.
Asuka lived in poverty with her mother, but eventually her mother also passed away from illness, leaving Asuka utterly alone.
Meanwhile, the father who abandoned Asuka achieved success in the shogi world and basked in the spotlight.
Seeing him sparked murderous intent in Asuka, who attempted revenge. Yet, in that very moment, she unexpectedly displayed shogi talent.
Recognizing Asuka's talent, former shogi player [Tōdō (Naoto Fujiki)]—who shares a bitter past with Asuka's father—proposes a plan: “Let's seek revenge through shogi.”
As part of this scheme, under Tōdō's guidance, Asuka aims to become “the first female shogi professional in history.”
This is the story of a woman imprisoned by hatred who reclaims her life through shogi.
