"After the Quake,” a movie that shares a story with the NHK drama ‘After the Quake,’ will be released in theaters on October 3! NON will play the voice of “Kaeru-kun”.
"After the Quake,” a film based on Haruki Murakami's short story ‘All God's Children Can Dance,’ will be released on October 3, 2025 at Theatre Shinjuku, Cinestitch Ginza and other theaters nationwide.
Set against the backdrop of the 1995 Great Hanshin-Awaji Earthquake, the film is a story of four people whose lives intersect across time in an attempt to explore the theme of loss and rebirth.
The film is a unique work that is composed of “new connections” and “editing” that were not depicted in the Saturday drama “After the Quake,” which aired on NHK in April 2025.
NON will play the voice of “Kaeru-kun,” a key character in the film.
He suddenly appears in front of Katagiri, a former bank employee played by Koichi Sato, and says, “Thirty years ago, you and Namikuni saved Tokyo from Mimizukun. Please help me again.” He is a mysterious being in the form of a giant frog.
Directed by Tsuyoshi Inoue of the TV series “Amachan”. The screenplay was written by Takamasa Oe of “Drive My Car”.
After 30 years, this film connects the memories of earthquakes, incidents, and pandemics to the present day.
Please come and see it at the theater.
