The 1975 classic “THE BULLET TRAIN” will be revived in the modern era as the Netflix movie “Bullet Train Explosion” by director Shinji Higuchi and star Tsuyoshi Kusanagi.
This nonstop suspense movie depicts the tense battle between the crew, passengers, and government officials on the “Hayabusa 60” bullet train, which is rigged with a bomb that detonates when the speed drops below 100 km/h.
On April 21, an event was held at TODA HALL CONFERENCE TOKYO in Tokyo to commemorate the launch of the train, with Tsuyoshi Kusanagi, Kanata Hosoda, NON, Jun Kaname, Takumi Saito, and director Shinji Higuchi on stage.
The LED panel projection of the “Hayabusa No. 60” and the sound effects made the audience feel as if they were actually on the train.
NON plays the role of Matsumoto, a female driver, a role played by Shinichi Chiba in the 1975 version.
In the beginning, it was a solitary shoot, and we were filming all the time on the set in the driver's cab. I was surprised at first that I would be playing the role that was played by Shinichi Chiba in the original, but I was very happy.
Director Higuchi said, “I first encountered this film 50 years ago and adored it. To be allowed to make it myself was truly an opportunity I could not have wished for. And I think everyone here is the greatest treasure I have found in my 50 years.
