■Comment from NON
I am making a music video for “Yume ga Itamukara (Inspired by Tokyo Hyakkei)” which is included in my 2nd Album “PURSUE”. I put a super emo coming-of-age story into it.
The lyrics of this song were inspired by Naoki Matayoshi's essay collection “Tokyo Hyakkei,” and I have been wondering how to make it into a video.
I directed, performed, and edited the music video myself, and to my surprise, Naoki Matayoshi, the author of the book, was able to appear in the music video.
We finished filming the other day, and my excitement was at its peak as I was able to capture a wonderful image filled with a treasure-like radiance. Matayoshi-san's expression is sad and wistful, and I am excited that it should seep into everyone's hearts. We are currently in the middle of editing the film, racking our brains as to which cuts to cut.
In Fuji Television Network's TWO documentary, I was able to speak candidly about everything from the planning stage to the shooting and editing stages, as well as my thoughts on video production. Why in the world do we make videos? It made me think and pursue my own thoughts. A wonderful additional cast will be announced in the future. I hope that this video, this documentary, will give someone hope.
Enjoy!
