The film \"Teppen no Mukou ni Anata ga Iru\", starring NON, won the Audience Award at the 23rd Kathmandu International Mountain Film Festival (KIMFF), held in Nepal from May 27 to 31.<\/p>\n
The festival is an international film festival held in Kathmandu, the capital of Nepal, focusing on themes such as mountain culture, the natural environment, and adventure.<\/p>\n
A total of 48 films were screened this year, and this film was selected for the award as the most popular film based on audience votes.
\nThe international jury praised it as \u201ca superb portrayal of Ms. Tabui\u2019s struggles and the bonds of her family,\u201d and the film generated such a huge response that a second screening was held after the awards ceremony due to its overwhelming popularity.<\/p>\n
The film \u201cTeppen no Mukou ni Anata ga Iru\u201d tells the story of Junko Tabei, who founded a women\u2019s mountaineering club under the motto \u201cAll-female overseas expeditions\u201d and, in 1975, as deputy leader and climbing leader of the Japanese Women\u2019s Everest Expedition, became the first woman in the world to summit Mount Everest, the world\u2019s highest peak.<\/p>\n
Based on the true story of Junko Tabei, one of Japan\u2019s greatest female mountaineers, this film portrays her heroic life on a grand scale\u2014from the first female ascent of Everest to her battle with illness in her later years, and her continued climbing right up until her final moments, even after being told she had only a short time left to live.<\/p>\n
The protagonist, Junko Tabei, is played by Sayuri Yoshinaga, a leading actress in the Japanese film industry who, with this film, has appeared in 124 movies.
