■What is the Tohoku Youth Orchestra?
The Tohoku Youth Orchestra was planned and organized as a result of "Lucerne Festival ARK NOVA Matsushima 2013," a music festival held in Matsushima-cho, Miyagi Prefecture in September and October 2013 to connect Tohoku with the world.

The members of the orchestra are mainly from the three prefectures affected by the Great East Japan Earthquake (Iwate, Miyagi, and Fukushima), and are children from elementary schools, junior high schools, high schools, and universities who usually perform in different organizations, changing the orchestra formation for each program (performance). The activities of the Tohoku Youth Orchestra are not limited to mere performances. We believe that the Tohoku Youth Orchestra is a "place for growth" where the children of Tohoku can learn about the world through instruction and performances by excellent musicians, as well as through interaction with a variety of people they would not normally meet, and experience the world together with many friends. Our goal is that the children's vitality will energize the adults around them, the region as a whole, and the entire Tohoku region, creating a new future.

"There are many things that can only be expressed through music. There are many things that can only be expressed through music. With this in mind, we will deliver strong and beautiful music born from overcoming the disaster from Tohoku to the rest of Japan and to the world.
