New footage from the movie *Parallel and Vertical* (opening Friday, August 28), in which NON co-stars with Shota Yasuda, has been released.
Daiki (Shota Yasuda), who has left the group home to live independently, lives by his own set of rules.
For Daiki and his younger sister Nozomi (NON), their weekly dinner gathering at 7:00 p.m. every Wednesday is a cherished tradition they’ve built up over time as a matter of course.
Daiki, who becomes restless if the appointed time is even one minute late, keeps sending Nozomi message after message whenever she’s running late.
The newly released footage shows Nozomi, who has just received a marriage proposal from her boyfriend Masaya (played by Sora Ishima), confiding in Daiki that she wants him to come with her to meet Masaya’s parents in Tokyo to share the news.
The scene delicately captures the moment when small changes begin to creep into the siblings’ everyday lives—from Nozomi, who notices Daiki’s habit of touching his cheek when he’s happy and can’t help but smile, to Daiki, whose heart wavers as he struggles to come to terms with this sudden request.
The film *Parallel and Perpendicular* opens nationwide on Friday, August 28.

■Costume Exhibition to Be Held at “Sakai Rishō no Mori” in Sakai City, the Film’s Setting
A collaborative event with the film *Parallel and Vertical* will be held at “Sakai Rishō no Mori,” a cultural and tourism facility in Sakai City, Osaka, which served as the film’s setting.
In addition to an exhibition of the costumes worn by Daiki (played by Shōta Yasuda) and Nozomi (played by NON) in the film, life-size photo panels and scene panels will also be on display.

Daiki, who has autism spectrum disorder, and his younger sister Nozomi, who has supported her brother since they were children. The siblings lost their mother at a young age and, keeping their distance from their father—who tended to neglect them—have been doing their best to get by on their own.
Daiki hardly speaks and his facial expressions rarely change. Having moved out of a group home to live on his own with the goal of becoming independent, Daiki follows his own set of rules. He is so meticulous and particular that he arranges everything in parallel and perpendicular lines, carefully aligning even the tableware on his desk. His weekly dinner with Nozomi is always at 7:00 p.m. sharp. If it’s even one minute late, he becomes restless.
Nozomi, who works as a counselor, has received a marriage proposal from her boyfriend. Though she harbors a hint of anxiety, she decides to travel to Tokyo with her brother to meet her fiancé’s parents...

Nozomi is a woman who works as a counselor while supporting her older brother, Daiki (played by Shota Yasuda), who is on the autism spectrum.
Every Wednesday, the siblings gather for a meal featuring Daiki’s home-cooked dishes—a time that is irreplaceable for them. However, Nozomi’s life reaches a major turning point when her boyfriend, Masaya (played by Sora Ishima), proposes to her.
