The second installment of the MBS/TBS network special “Love, Knowledge, NON, and Nobu” will air on Thursday, August 27, from 8:54 p.m. to 10:00 p.m.

The show is hosted by NON and Nobu from Chidori. It’s a fresh take on an information variety show where “True Fans”—people who are absolutely passionate about a certain theme—talk at length about its appeal with their own unique enthusiasm, while “Knowledge Experts”—who add intellectual trivia—help bring it all to life.

The theme of the second installment is “tuna,” which has been attracting a lot of attention this year thanks to a record-breaking catch.

The theme of the second installment is “tuna,” which has been attracting a lot of attention this year thanks to a record-breaking catch.

A group of self-proclaimed “tuna enthusiasts”—Masahiro Takashima, Souya Igari (KEY TO LIT), Emiko Kawamura (Tanpopo), Eiko Kano, and Hikomaro—have come together to share the “must-try cuts” you can’t afford to miss and the best ways to enjoy them.

On the “Knowledge” team, Fuminori Ujihara (Rozan), Noeru Kawashima (Travis Japan), and culinary expert Miki Fujiwara—known as “Miki Mama”—made appearances.
An authentic “tuna dissection booth” was set up in the studio for a spectacular live dissection of bluefin tuna from Tsushima, Nagasaki Prefecture! From introducing “Hachitoro” (brain cap)—a rare cut that accounts for just 0.5% of a whole fish—to NON’s challenge of searing “Kamatoro” (jaw meat), which is even fattier than “Ootoro,” with a gas burner, and indulging in “Tenmi” (top loin), the pinnacle of lean tuna, the show explores every facet of tuna’s profound appeal.

The show is also packed with simple recipes you can try at home and information on top-notch restaurants handpicked by Gachi Ai. Be sure to enjoy this satisfying experience—both for your stomach and your soul—as NON’s reactions blend with Nobu’s sharp, witty commentary.

Comments from NON and Nobu have also arrived.

NON's Comment
I was amazed to hear that a second season had been greenlit in such a short time—and that it would air during prime time! Since the first season was such a peaceful, love-filled show set in a serene atmosphere, I was really looking forward to the recording, hoping the second season would also be a peaceful and enjoyable experience.

Since this episode centered entirely on the theme of tuna, I learned a lot about it. It was the first time in my life I’d eaten so much tuna. This show is one that keeps giving me new “firsts.” And because we had so many “die-hard love fans” join us, I was able to see a wide variety of love all at once. Some love is gentle, while other love is strong and over-the-top. Thanks to “Knowledge-san,” the conversation moved along without us getting too carried away by the love, which was reassuring. I was surprised to casually hear Nobu from the comedy duo Chidori say his famous line, “two pieces of squid,” right in front of me. It feels like it’ll bring good luck! Be sure to check it out when it airs.

I was also happy to record a second episode with NON-chan, and it was fun to be immersed in her deep love and knowledge once again.
It’s like NON-chan has really gotten the hang of variety shows—she has such great balance between when to explain things and when to goof around. She was speaking in a louder, more comedian-like voice than she did the first time. And, as always, her eyes were sparkling. After all, the whole point of this show is to make NON-chan’s eyes sparkle, so I’m glad it worked out so well this time, too.

I don’t think there’s another prime-time show that focuses on “a whole tuna.” We really dug deep into that topic, and I don’t want you to miss the fascinating trivia that even the “Knowledge Guy” found impressive. Also, while we got to eat tons of tuna, Ujihara-san—who’s in charge of spouting all the trivia—didn’t take a single bite. Please enjoy watching Ujihara-san’s face as he gets angrier and angrier. It was the first time I realized that sometimes, the more you learn, the more you lose out. (Laughs)
