It has been announced that NON will star in the drama *How to Make Something Delicious*, which is planned, produced, written, and directed by Yutaka Matsushige.
The series will stream exclusively on Prime Video starting at 12:00 a.m. on Saturday, October 3.
Matsushige, who for many years has portrayed the “man who eats” in *Solitary Gourmet*, facing off against countless culinary delights, takes on the perspective of the “cook” in this completely original scripted work, depicting the warm bonds between people forged through food. The lead role is played by Yukiya Kitamura.
Another highlight is the visually stunning, mouth-watering cinematography crafted by the same team behind “Solitary Gourmet.”
NON plays Kana Osawa, a director at a recipe video streaming company who loves her late grandfather’s Western-style restaurant and its cuisine.
After meeting Eiji Mizuhashi (played by Yukiya Kitamura), a talented chef who has closed himself off due to a past incident, she works tirelessly to preserve her grandfather’s recipes and his restaurant.
Mariko Kaga has also been cast as Kana’s grandmother, Tomoko Osawa.
This is this fall’s must-watch culinary drama—one that’s sure to make your stomach growl while, strangely enough, leaving your heart feeling full.

When I received the offer for this project, my heart raced—I couldn’t believe it was a Matsushige production!
I’d just recently had the chance to co-star with Director Matsushige in a commercial, so I thought, “Is this a sign of that connection?” I was overjoyed and felt so fired up that I knew I had to do this! Also, Director Matsushige’s approach to filmmaking is so serious and professional, yet he’s relentlessly curious about the human condition—which really got me excited. I felt a real sense of elation as the film took shape, and I had a wonderful time.
Kana, the character I played, was a real grandma’s and grandpa’s girl. I felt she learned about delicious food from them and received so much happiness from them.
I get the sense that her determination to stick to a path she believes in—once she decides “This is it!”—is something she inherited from her grandmother.
She was a cheerful character, and it was a pleasure to play her.
When I imagine how delicious food comes to be, I realize there might be all sorts of dramas behind it, just like in this film. I’m convinced that if delicious food awaits at the end of all those stories, there could be no greater reward! By the time you’ve watched this film, I’m sure you’ll be absolutely dying to eat some sautéed pork. I hope you enjoy it.

I’ve been an actor for many years. It’s a profession where making a living is difficult, but while I was simply waiting for opportunities, I began to receive work from the media and was able to make ends meet. Then, just before I turned 50, I encountered *Solitary Gourmet*, which brought me public recognition and has led me to where I am today.
However, the environment surrounding this profession has changed dramatically; it is no longer a world where one can build a future simply by waiting. I decided to create works that I personally find interesting with my own hands. Then, I would present them to the world and take full responsibility for them. It may sound extreme, but I felt I needed to find a way forward there.
Fortunately, I have a technical staff who have been creating programs with me for 14 years—they are the best in the world when it comes to capturing what is “delicious.” Coming from an acting background, I understand actors’ feelings better than anyone else. If we pair that with the best music, we should be able to create a “delicious” work unlike anything viewers have ever seen.
When putting together the blueprint (script), I based the framework on the closure—and subsequent revival—of a long-established local restaurant, a trend that has often pained my heart lately. It’s an ensemble drama about the people involved. The star of this glorious first episode is “Sautéed Pork.” I guarantee it will make you even hungrier than that other show did. Please look forward to it.
≪Synopsis≫
Eiji Mizuhashi (Yukiya Kitamura), a talented chef who was fired from a prestigious restaurant following an incident, has distanced himself from others and closed himself off emotionally. He ends up working as a chef at a nursing home.
Meanwhile, Kana Osawa (NON), a director at a recipe video production company, was overcome with deep sorrow after suddenly learning of the death of her grandfather, Shinji, and the closure of “Kitchen Osawa,” the Western-style restaurant he had run and loved for many years. Kana’s grandmother, Tomoko (Mariko Kaga), left alone, had moved from her familiar home to a nursing home but had lost her will to live, spending her days in despair, unable even to enjoy her meals. Then Tomoko encountered Mizuhashi’s cooking. Moved by how delicious his dishes were, she gradually began to smile again. Furthermore, she was surprised to find that the flavor of Mizuhashi’s pork sauté was exactly the same as that of “Kitchen Osawa’s” signature dish. She immediately contacted Kana to have her confirm the taste, and Kana, too, was moved to find that it was identical to her grandfather’s. Puzzled, Kana looked into the matter and discovered that Mizuhashi had trained at the same prestigious restaurant as her grandfather. Determined to preserve her grandfather’s legacy and the restaurant, Kana and Tomoko approached Mizuhashi—who had remained emotionally distant since the incident—with a proposal.
