In This Corner of the World was released on November 12, 2016, and received a great response, winning over 70 awards in Japan and abroad, including the Japan Academy Awards for Best Animation Works and the Jury Prize of the Annecy International Animation Film Festival in France. The movie has been screened at theaters all over Japan.

The new release "In This Corner (And Other Corners) of this World is a new story based on the original movie.
