A special video featuring a conversation between NON and Shota Yasuda—who co-stars with her in the film *Parallel and Vertical*, set for nationwide release on Friday, August 28—has been released.
Reflecting on their impressions upon reading the script, Yasuda said, “I thought it would resonate with people, serve as a catalyst for empathy, and provide an opportunity to learn more.” NON added, “I think it really conveys that feeling of, ‘How can I be more considerate of others?’” The two revealed the gentle worldview of the work that they sensed from the script.
When asked about their first impressions of each other on set, Yasuda recalled that she could sense NON’s nervousness when they first started filming together, and the two shared a laugh as they reminisced. NON revealed her nervousness at the time, saying, “I wonder what Nozomi thinks of me… My heart’s racing,” but added that because Yasuda naturally struck up a conversation with her, they were able to bond faster than usual.
This interview video features a calm atmosphere throughout, offering glimpses of their seamless rapport.

＜物語＞
Daiki, who has autism spectrum disorder, and his younger sister Nozomi, who has supported her brother since they were children. The siblings lost their mother when they were young, distanced themselves from their father—who tended to neglect them—and have been doing their best to get by on their own.
Daiki hardly speaks and his facial expressions seem to change very little. Having moved out of the group home to live on his own with the goal of becoming independent, Daiki has his own set of rules. He is so meticulous and particular that he arranges everything in parallel and perpendicular lines, and he carefully aligns the tableware on his desk. His weekly dinner with Nozomi is always at 7:00 p.m. If it’s even one minute late, he becomes restless.
Nozomi, who works as a counselor, receives a marriage proposal from her boyfriend. Feeling a twinge of anxiety, she decides to travel to Tokyo with her older brother to meet her fiancé’s parents...
