We are pleased to announce that the ABEMA original drama *MISS KING*, starring NON, has won the Entertainment Grand Award in the Entertainment (Fiction) category, as well as the Grand Prix—the festival’s highest honor—at the World Media Festival 2026 in Germany. This marks the first time in the 27-year history of the festival that a work in the Entertainment (Fiction) category has received the top prize.

The festival is an international film competition founded in 2000 by the German film distribution company Intermedia. It is known as an internationally prestigious award that recognizes the artistic merit of works across various genres, including television programs, commercials, and web content.

In response to the award, comments have been received from NON and director Santa Yamagishi.

■NON’s Full Comments
I am truly delighted to have received the intermedia-globe Grand Prix, the highest honor at the World Media Festival.

For me, the role of Asuka Kunimi was an unprecedentedly pitiful, sassy, and defiant challenge.
I recall the days when I started by learning the rules of shogi and spent countless hours practicing how to move the pieces.

Working on this story with Director Yamagishi, Director Tsubakimoto, the entire crew, and the wonderful cast was an incredibly enriching experience. The filming process felt like carefully pulling and weaving together threads of tension.
I felt that the intense spirit possessed by professional shogi players overlapped with our own concentration on the film.
It was a great pleasure to immerse myself fully in that atmosphere and fully embody the role.

I’ve come to truly appreciate the power of shogi and entertainment all over again.
I hope this film will continue to be a source of hope for people all over the world.

■Full Comments from Director Santa Yamagishi
I am absolutely thrilled that *MISS KING* won the Grand Prix at the World Media Festival.
I am deeply moved that the energy possessed by the heroine, Asuka Kunimi—her ability to transform despair into hope—has reached so many people across borders.

I would like to express my heartfelt gratitude to the cast, crew, and promotional team who walked this journey with me, to everyone involved in the production, and to Non-san and the entire cast who breathed life into Asuka. I want to share this joy with all of you. Thank you so very much.
