Happening at Sendai PARCO from October 13th to 29th!
Non's comments have also arrived!

From October 13th (Friday) to October 29th (Sunday), Non's exhibition 'Non Ribbon Exhibition - Mysterious and Cute Things.' will be held at Space 6 on the 6th floor of Sendai PARCO main building, as part of Sendai PARCO's 15th-anniversary celebration!

This exhibition, a collaboration between traditional crafts from the Tohoku region - 'Kokeshi Lantern,' 'Red Cow,' 'Tanabata Decorations' - and Non's Ribbon Art, features installations and artworks arranged to create a 'mysterious and cute space' for visitors to experience.

The 'Red Cow' is a traditional craft from the Aizu region in Fukushima Prefecture. It captures attention with its bright red body adorned with Non's Ribbon Art in a 'mysterious and cute' manner.

The Kokeshi Lantern is a lantern inspired by the traditional Tsugaru Kokeshi, a craft from the Tsugaru region. In this exhibition, five large Kokeshi Lanterns, each 180cm in height and 45cm in circumference, will be displayed. The design sketches of these lanterns, designed by Non, have been unveiled.

Based on these design sketches, craftsmen will paint the crafts, and Non will add her Ribbon Art to them.

■Comments by Non

For two weeks straight, I kept tying ribbons. Surrounded by an immense amount of ribbons, I was completely immersed in a world that seemed enchanted by ribbons, captivated by its mysterious and cute allure.

Collaborating with traditional crafts from the Tohoku region and working alongside skilled craftsmen to create art fills me with joy and excitement. The harmony between Japan's traditional charm and ribbon art is truly remarkable.

When I covered the 'Red Cow' with ribbons, something truly mysterious and cute was born. This autumn, I invite you to come to the Non Ribbon Exhibition. Traditional art from Tohoku and a plethora of mysterious yet adorable ribbons are waiting for you.

An installation featuring 219 Kokeshi Ribbon Art pieces, named 'Makkawarashi,' intricately arranged in a mysterious and cute manner, will be exhibited.

The 219 Kokeshi Ribbon Art pieces titled 'Prototypes: Makkawarashi's Room,' previously displayed at 'ikuno art stay 2023 non ribbon art' in January 2013, have been reimagined and will be unveiled specifically for this exhibition. Come meet the Kokeshi figures standing mysteriously in the traditional Japanese space.
